I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in couples counseling. With individuals I specialize in all things interpersonal (partner relationships, parent-child relationships, hierarchical relationships, peer relationships), relating well to anxiety, life transitions, and challenges developing into the person you would like to be.
After years of working for Outward Bound in Montana and multiple wilderness therapy programs, in southern Utah and central Oregon, facilitating wilderness expeditions, teaching survival skills and working the metaphors of rock climbing and peak ascents I left the backcountry for the urban landscape of Portland, Oregon. During the second year of a MSW program I stepped into the official role of therapist for the first time at a counseling center. Here I learned to apply the psychodynamically oriented Control Mastery theory with adults working on universal themes such as intimacy, individuation, self expression, sexuality, anxiety, and relationship challenges.
Since then I have continued to provide psychotherapy and counseling in varying capacities for individuals, families, and couples. I have worked in psychiatric hospital settings, chemical dependency units, mental health agencies, and my own counseling practice. My intention is to help people discover creative solutions for addressing their pressing psychological and interpersonal problems. I draw from both Eastern and Western principles of thinking and healing. I utilize a myriad of theoretical orientations and methods such as attachment theory, developmental theories, narrative, family systems, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-centered somatic approaches.
I have completed the first Mindful Experiential Therapy Approaches Professional Skills Training Module. It's an 18 day training delivered over the course of six months on the Hakomi method of experiential psychotherapy. I have completed Level 1 of the Gottman Couples Training and a year long post-graduate training through the Couples Institute.
I moved to Eugene, Oregon in May 0f 2022. This my third time living in Oregon. When not working I am excited to spend time outside in the beautiful natural areas. I have a deep interest in egalitarianism, the decentralized web, and trying to understand the over arching behavioral economic system that influences how we live.
